D’Aretha Franklin, elle aime la puissance, de Freddy Mercury la folie, de Nina Simone l’émotion et de Carmen Mc Rae la sauvagerie libérée. Inspirée par ses maîtres, Séverine Vaena chante son blues depuis toujours, c’est ce qui la fait vibrer et la relie au monde.
Elle suit une formation classique (Choeur du Conservatoire), flûte traversière, cours de chant classique, puis est conquise par la méthode de Richard Miller dont elle suit les cours à l’Université de Belmont à Nashville aux Etats-Unis.
Elle a la chance de travailler pour des grands comme David Richard (producteur et ingénieur du son de Queen, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, etc…) et Phil Collins.
De retour en Europe, elle crée plusieurs formations comme le Séverine Vaena Quintet avec notamment Stéfano Saccon et Maxence Sibille. Ou encore le groupe One A, avec entre autresBenoît Corboz et Marc Erbetta.
Parallèlement, Séverine Vaëna chante avec le Bluz Broz Buzz. Un groupe de onze musiciens qui fait son show énergisant sur les scènes romandes depuis plus de dix ans. Hommage éclatant aux maîtres du rythm’n’ blues et du rock’n soul.
En 2013, nouvelle aventure : le Vaena’s Project.
Depuis plus d’une dizaine d’année, Séverine Vaëna chante sur toutes les scènes de la région avec la même joie jubilatoire: AMR, UT Tempo, Chorus, Chat Noir, Cave Marignac, Café Margaux à Begnin. Des standards de jazz, puis ses compositions. Femme libre, elle puise dans toutes les influences du jazz, fabrique son propre univers pour faire circuler l’énergie. Un monde vrai, sans artifice, qui plonge aux racines du blues. Un univers rayonnant, généreux, puissant, à l’image de sa voix qui n’en finit pas de remuer les tripes.

Born into an artistic environment (father director and puppeteer mother) Séverine was introduced to theater and music at a young age.
She likes Aretha Franklin’s power, Freddy Mercury’s madness, Nina Simone’s emotion and Carmen McRae’s liberated savagery. Inspired by her masters, Séverine Vaena sings her blues since forever. The music that makes her feel alive and connects her to the world.

For over a decade, Séverine Vaena has been singing on stages in the region with the same jubilant joy: AMR, UT Tempo, Chorus, Le Chat noir, les caves de Marignac, Café Margaux Begnin. Jazz standards mixed with her own compositions. A free woman, she draws on the influences of jazz, and manufactures her own universe as a way to circulate energy.
A real world without artifice, which plunges the roots of the blues. A radiant universe, generous, powerful, like her voice, that never ceases to stir emotions.
